Located on Masons Parade, the Upper Deck tries to make the most of Gosford’s waterfront. Those familiar with Gosford’s waterfront will however know that there isn’t much to see. In the case of the Upper Deck, the westerly views treat you to a road, a sliver of park, the Central Coast Highway, a car park, then Brisbane Water, which is finished off disappointingly with a train line in the distance.

The lack lustre views are more than made up for by the fantastic food. The meals are beautifully prepared and presented and are certainly the highlight of the visit. From the Shanghai Prawns to the Fillet Mignon, you won’t be disappointed.

Hidden on Atchison St in what feels like St Leonards but is actually Crows Nest is argosini, a great coffee shop, micro roastery and coffee-ware store. You can pretty much ignore the coffee-wares unless you have money to burn; the only reason you need to visit argosini is for the coffee. Within argosini you’ll find a micro coffee roaster that turns out freshly roasted beans every day; It’s the little roaster that could. All the coffee argosini sells comes out of this little machine and if you have never had the pleasure of freshly roasted coffee, then you must visit argosini.

the bay café (a.k.a the bay cafe) is a quaint little restaurant located on the main road in Toowoon Bay. Careful not to be fooled by the name, the intentional use of lower case does not make it cool and modern, nor is it a café; having an esspresso machine does not count. This is an older style resturant probably considered “Modern Australian” if we were still in the 80’s, that is certainly starting to feel a little dated.
